Migrant Early Head Start

E Center's Migrant Early Head Start program is tailored to meet the needs of children aged 4 weeks to 36 months from families engaged in agricultural work, including those who migrate for employment in produce fields, canning, and packing plants. Understanding the unique challenges faced by migrant families, our program offers comprehensive early childhood education and care services to support the development and well-being of young children.

Our program provides two primary service options: Center-Based Care and Family Child Care Homes. During harvest times, typically from late spring through mid/late fall depending on crop cycles, both options are available for up to twelve hours a day, five days a week. This extended availability ensures that families have access to reliable childcare options that align with their work schedules and migration patterns.

Center-based care offers a structured learning environment where children engage in age-appropriate activities that promote their cognitive, social, and emotional development. Similarly, Family Child Care Homes provide a nurturing setting within a home environment, allowing for individualized attention and care under the guidance of trained caregivers.

Currently offered in Butte, Yuba, Sutter, Tehama, Glenn, Lake, Colusa, and Yolo counties, our Migrant Early Head Start program is committed to supporting migrant families by providing accessible, high-quality early childhood education and care services that foster children's growth and school readiness.
