Basic Education and Literature

The Rotary Club of Killeen Heights is dedicated to fostering basic education and promoting literacy through impactful initiatives that engage and empower the community. One of our ongoing projects involves reestablishing the Literacy Library at Killeen Elementary School, following the replacement of East Ward Elementary. Our club recognizes the vital role that access to literature plays in a child's education and is committed to supporting the development of this resource for the benefit of local students.

As part of a District 5870 project, the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights is set to contribute to the creation of a Little Free Library. These book-sharing boxes, strategically placed in areas with limited access to books, serve as a beacon of knowledge for underprivileged youth. By providing 24/7 access to literature, these Little Free Libraries not only offer educational resources but also cultivate a love for reading among children in need.

Furthermore, the Rotary Club actively engages with the Oak Creek Academy Reading Program, having previously provided resources in Rotary Year 2020-2021 to enhance students' reading abilities. In the spirit of continuous support, Rotarians are welcomed back to the academy to participate in reading sessions with the students, reinforcing the club's commitment to nurturing literacy and education within the community.
