AccuBoost®: Precision in Breast Radiotherapy
Discover new options for the treatment of early-stage breast cancer with AccuBoost®, the latest innovation in breast radiotherapy offered at the New Mexico Cancer Center.
For women facing early-stage breast cancer, Breast Conservation Therapy, involving lumpectomy followed by radiation therapy, offers a compelling alternative to mastectomy. This approach provides comparable long-term treatment efficacy with fewer side effects and superior cosmetic outcomes.
AccuBoost® introduces precision into the realm of breast radiotherapy, catering to two well-established options: External Beam Radiation Therapy with a localized "Boost" and Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI). With External Beam Radiation Therapy, a standard regimen of 3 to 6 weeks targets the entire breast, followed by a higher "boost dose" aimed at the margin of tissue surrounding the initial cancer site. In contrast, APBI condenses radiation delivery to 5 to 10 days, specifically targeting the lumpectomy site, making it a suitable choice for active, working women or those at a distance from a treatment center.
AccuBoost® leverages real-time image guidance, allowing radiation oncologists at the New Mexico Cancer Center to precisely target the lumpectomy cavity margin. This state-of-the-art process minimizes unintentional exposure to healthy tissue, reducing radiation-related side effects.
Empowering patients and their physicians, AccuBoost® facilitates informed discussions about the benefits and risks of each radiotherapy option. At the New Mexico Cancer Center, we are committed to advancing breast cancer treatment, ensuring that each individual's unique needs are met with the highest standard of care.
Choose AccuBoost® for precision, compassion, and a transformative approach to breast radiotherapy. Your journey to optimal breast cancer treatment starts here.
