Renewable Energy


Electric cooperatives and their member-owners across the country are expanding their fuel portfolios to include an array of renewable sources including wind and solar.

Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative developed a wind farm that began generating energy in March 2009. It includes 14 - 1.5 megawatt G.E. turbines serving Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE) near superior, Iowa and seven turbines serving Global Ethanol near Lakota, Iowa.
